Bossobass Dave
OK, it looks like this forum has been totally abandoned. I wish Nube would check in just so that I know he's OK.
maxmercy
Nube is pretty busy. I may have some time this wknd to measure a few of the latest, like T:G and Uncle. JSS

Madaeel
Nice. Thx man. Did you watch it? I'm thinking of picking this up in 3D.
Bossobass Dave
We watched it. Pick it up, it was a hoot. Everyone gave thumbs up.
BeastAudio
Paul Rudd is a funny dude. I have this one set to watch either tonight or tomorrow night.
Archaea
Terminator Genisys -Atmos track defaulted to 7.1 Dolby TrueHD SCALE 00:02:05 00:08:32 00:19:50 00:27:36 How come only some of these get turned into full threads? I forgot Shredhead has posted this one. I listened to the Atmos track on Terminator Salvation, and it was one of, if not my favorite audio experience of all time. The bass was excellent, deep, textured, varied. It was an audio treat IMO. I watched Pixels too and I thought the new Terminator was far more fun bass/audio than Pixels, even though Pixels gets a lot of compliments for its bass track. Reefdvr27
No way!! I am going to have to pick up Ant-Man I totally forgot to stop at BB this week. I have about 40 movies to watch, so I have laying low till I catch up. I might have to slid in and pick this one up though and put it to the top of the list! Madaeel
We watched it. Pick it up, it was a hoot. Everyone gave thumbs up. Thx. I'm picking it up Monday in 3D. I'm surprised you like Paul Rudd and not Chris Platt though. It was all cuz of that dancing wasn't it? Infrasonic
He does now, yes. Four more Mackies added to his system for Atmos.
Electrodynamic
That's it! Next time I pass Red Box and see a movie on the front and think "that might have good bass" I'm picking it up. I didn't rent Pixels nor Tomorrowland when I had the chance and I passed on Ant Man just a few days ago. Never again. Thanks for posting the screen caps! maxmercy
Ant-Man - DTS HD-MA 7.1 Level - 3 Stars (108.81dB Composite) Extension - 3 Stars (16Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (30.77dB) Execution - Executive decision, 3 Stars Overall - 3.5 Stars Recommendation - Rent unless you are a true Marvel fan Comments: Really enjoyed the film, rolloff similar to the Iron Man films, some clipping in LCR+LFE, but not as bad as some other films. May be a good candidate for BEQ, as this film has some re-watchability, but Marvel has to try something other than "good guy w/ nearly same tech/powers as bad guy who appears to be more powerful but loses in the end". maxmercy
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. - Dolby Atmos (7.1 Analyzed) Level - 4 Stars (110.45dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (29.86dB) Execution - 3 Stars Overall - 4.25 Stars Recommendation - Rent Comments: Full bandwidth track, but not as heavy as the real monsters. Clips in LCR+LFE. Decent film, worth a watch. JSS
maxmercy
Tomorrowland - DTS HDMA 7.1 Level - 4 Stars (111.08dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (32.73dB) Execution - 4 Stars Overall - 4.5 Stars Recommendation - Tossup Comments - Full bandwidth track, terrific sound design. Unfortunately, clips in LCRS on loudest scenes, but I didn't find it too objectionable like in T:Genisys. This Movie is not for everyone, but I liked it. Two very low ULF hits account for the spike down low. They are there on purpose. JSS
maxmercy
Terminator: Genisys - Dolby Atmos (7.1 Analyzed) Level - 5 Stars (114.55dB composite) Extension - 3 Stars (18Hz) Dynamics - 4 Stars (25.17dB) Execution - 3 Stars Overall - 3.75 Stars Recommendation - Rent Comments: LOUD. Loudness War loud. Clips on every channel. Good nostalgia moments, but otherwise I think they have stretched every dollar out of this franchise that they can. Also very weird seeing Daenerys Targaryen without dragons around. JSS Terminator Genisys -Atmos track defaulted to 7.1 Dolby TrueHD

Toe
Thanks for all the graphs Max! Any chance you could graph San Andreas at some point? Not that the bass is anything special (it's LOUD, but not that deep subjectively), but I am more curious to see how bad this track clips (if it does). I found the audio on this one to be harsh to some degree and the overall sound design reminded me of STID which is not really a good thing! Track just seemed LOUD and compressed to my ears, but I could be wrong which is why I am curious to see it graphed if you get time at some point. No worries if not. maxmercy
Mission:Impossible Rogue Nation - Dolby ATMOS (TrueHD 7.1 Analyzed) Level - 4 Stars (110.45dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 4 Stars (26.57dB) Execution - 5 Stars Overall - 4.5 Stars Comments - Terrific technical production value here. No clipping found. Great use of rear channels, with some very strong hits in both rear surrounds. While the level was kept in check and not as loud as the loudest out there, I will take this clean presentation over a loud, clipped mess any time. The more fidelity in your playback system, the more you will appreciate this. ULF Highlight (for those that can resolve it: 1:02:00 to 1:07:30. It is there on purpose, and a small room with lots of displacement and 3Hz capability will know it is there. Midbass Highlight ~1hr 14min. If you don't have any suckouts in the 100-200Hz region, this will rattle you. Great to see a few films this year with LF extension and clean presentations, especially in 'blockbuster' type films. MemX
Thanks for the graph and comments, it sounds promising! ULF Highlight (for those that can resolve it: 1:02:00 to 1:07:30. It is there on purpose, and a small room with lots of displacement and 3Hz capability will know it is there. I can't believe any mastering studio has this sort of capability so kudos to the sound designer(s) for including it, knowing most will never play it back! maxmercy
San Andreas - Dolby Atmos (TrueHD 7.1 Analyzed) Level - 5 Stars (113.79 dB composite) Extension - 2 Stars (21Hz) Dynamics - 3 Stars (23.82dB) Execution - 4 Stars Overall - 3.5 Stars Recommendation - Rent Comments - High SPL and rolled off (like Thor and Pacific Rim), but ZERO clipping (unlike Thor and Pacific Rim). This is non-dynamic high SPL done right. Good to see a a clean presentation in a loud film. I'm sure significant digital compression was used as from a zoomed out-perspective, I expected to see clipping at -0.5dB everywhere, but no flat-tops were found upon closer inspection.
