Kyle
Has anyone hacked up this amp yet? I'm really tired of the fan noise
chrapladm
Shouldn't be too hard. I have changed a few amps now with quieter computer fans. Usually just a matter of how many wires the OEM fans have. My Crest had three and my other amps had two.
Kyle
Did you change the fan entirely or just add resistors?
lukeamdman
These are really quiet, and they come with a resistor if you want them even slower/quieter. https://www.amazon.com/noctua-NF-A8-PWM-Noctua/dp/B00NEMG62M/ref=sr_1_5?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1470759658&sr=1-5&keywords=80mm+fan

Infrasonic
Yep. It's a Noctua. You think that's bad... try buying nine of them for a single computer. Does anyone know the voltage on these? The Europower amps required 24v fans. Two of them. Made it tough to find drop-in replacements. Modding the iNuke's were easier. Twin 12v fans. Noctua to the rescue! Love how quiet my iNuke's are. My EP's, even modded, are pretty loud in comparison.
SME
I learned years ago with computers that skimping on cooling fans wasn't worth it. The cheaper ones tend to use low quality bearings that wear out quickly. Many silent fans only stay silent for a few months, if that.

I only use Zalman for PC heatsink and my case fans are all huge low RMP fans.
