  1. Afflicted (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 1 Star (100.26dB composite) Extension - 1 Star (26Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (35.45dB!!!) Execution - 1 Star (by poll) Overall - 2 Stars Recommendation - Avoid (by poll) Notes: Apparently this one's low budget didn't include any money for sound design. Yeah, great dynamics, but so what? You can do that when there's absolutely nothing but dialog. PvA:
  2. Limitless (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 1 Star (104.98dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (35.04dB!!!) Execution - 4 Stars (by poll) Overall - 3.75 Stars Recommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: Very low levels, but look at those dynamics!! A few spots of real content to 8Hz. PvA:
  3. Wall-E (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 2 Stars (106.48dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (28.93dB) Execution - 4 Stars (by poll) Overall - 4 Stars Recommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: A few big effects with content that is only gradually rolled off from 30Hz. Not much of a bass film, overall, but watchable. PvA:
  4. I just measured it the other day, but haven't posted it. Good levels, good extension, great dynamics, and tons of scenes with sub-20Hz content. It's a winner for sure. There's quite the backlog of measurements to post because they need time to be voted on. There's also that Google Doc that has all the requested movies that have yet to be measured.
  5. I think they're all done now. If there are any more in what Bosso sends, I'll update them at that time.
  6. grantisgrant, Thanks again! I manually uploaded each of the images in alphabetical order of movie title, so they should be working - have a couple more movies to do, and gotta take a break. Anyone who's reading this - please check that the images are working and, if not, post which ones aren't working, are on the wrong post, or are showing the PhotoBucket "too popular" placeholder. I did find that there were only the first two images from Cabin In the Woods. BossobassDave, I consolidated images from your separate posts into their linked measurements posts, and deleted the posts where yours had the PhotoBucket "too popular" placeholder. All credit goes to you, of course, for the images! If you have any other images you want to post, lemme know. I appreciate the work you did on those, and wish you'd have the time to continue, as I think it really adds to the presentation of the measurements to have a strong visual attached.
  7. Beowulf (5.1 TrueHD) Level - 4 Stars (110.84dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (28.68dB) Execution - 5 Stars (by poll) Overall - 4.75 Stars Recommendation - Buy (by poll) Notes: Although this one has near constant DC noise, big effects on screen often have real content from 5-15Hz. PvA:
  8. Knight and Day (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 2 Stars (106.98dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (28.73dB) Execution - 4 Stars (by poll) Overall - 4 Stars Recommendation - Buy (by poll) Notes: Generally low levels, with lots of DC noise. Four scenes with respectable content below 10Hz. PvA:
  9. grant, Would you mind zipping them into a folder, then hosting that on Google Drive? Downloading 151 files individually is pretty tedious. It's the one thing I don't like about Google Drive - no option to download all!
  10. Dave, Glad to see you're still alive! Put the files all in a zip file and host them on your website in a secret directory. Then PM me the direct link to the zip file and I'll download them. I'll let you know once it's complete so you can delete the files. How's the new driver? Any chance we'll see any more details about it soon? It's been a long time in coming! grantisgrant, Please do still collect what you can. Never hurts to have backup plans!
  11. Dunno if people have seen this. Ralph Potts is asking for your input on his unrated Low Frequency Extension review category. This is in addition to his rated Low Frequency Effects category. If you want your voice heard, I suggest reading the thread, then voting on the subject. The thread can be found here: Do you find the 'Low Frequency Extension' rating useful?
  12. Because the images were hosted on Photobucket, which sometime in 2013 began to SIGNIFICANTLY limit the bandwidth a person's photo account could transfer before replacing their images with what you now see in an attempt to monetize (extort users) their struggling site. As far as I know, it hasn't worked, and people are just going elsewhere. If someone wants to, they can send me the original images, clearly labeled, and I can post them with good hosting.
  13. Ok, I updated the ones where I can figure out where they should go. This includes the first post of Thor, all of TIH, all of BLA, and the last five of Tron: Legacy. That's all I could determine so far. Keep 'em coming!
  14. Actually, it's really hard to know which is which, besides the obvious ones that show the scene and timestamp. I can't figure out which movie the last 4 images correspond to. Can you put each movie in its own folders and label their images with numbers corresponding to their original sequence? That would help me piece the posts back together properly.
  15. No, that's great! Thanks for doing that, because I can't see them even with the method you described above. However, please do get all of a given movie if you can. I only see the title block of Thor, but none of the other SpecLab scenecaps with timestamps. Then, I see the SL scenecaps from Tron: Legacy, but not its title block. Do as many as you have time for! I'll re-upload them to another host and edit the posts here to reflect it. Thanks again!
  16. Not seeing that on my end. If you can, save the full-sized images and post them here as attachments, and include the link to the post where they're found. If you can do that for all you find that you can save, I'll update the posts with them hosted elsewhere so they'll work. Thanks!
  17. Blood Ties (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 1 Star (103.05dB composite) Extension - 3 Stars (15Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (34.71dB) Execution - 2 Stars (by poll) Overall - 2.75 Stars Recommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: Very little bass in this until the end of the movie and credits. PvA:
  18. 300: Rise of an Empire (7.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 4 Stars (111.17dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (27.55dB) Execution - 4 Stars (by poll) Overall - 4.5 Stars Recommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: Most of the bass content is at or around 30Hz, but there is some below that which is rolled off, notably to 10Hz or so. DC noise garners the 5-Star extension rating. PvA:
  19. Good call. It's just below the Lone Survivor scene now. Thanks for the suggestion!
  20. Cowboys & Aliens (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 4 Stars (110.0dB composite) Extension - 1 Star (25.2Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (28.17dB) Execution - 3 Stars (by poll) Overall - 3.25 Stars Recommendation - Buy (by poll) Notes: Watching this with a ported sub a few years back, I though the bass was magnificent. Figures, as it's essentially brick-wall filtered at 30Hz. Lots of bass up there, though. For S&G's, here's the link to my previous comments about this film @ AVS. PvA:
  21. 13 Sins (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 2 Stars (106.52dB composite) Extension - 4 Stars (12Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (31.24dB) Execution - 3 Stars (by poll) Overall - 3.5 Stars Recommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: Content to 10Hz in the very beginning. A few scenes after that with stuff from 2-5Hz. PvA:
  22. McCanick (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 1 Star (103.14dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (31.84dB) Execution - 2 Stars (by poll) Overall - 3.25 Stars Recommendation - Avoid or Rent (by poll) Notes: A bunch of noise throughout the movie from DC-2Hz. The rest of the movie is very low level. Some scenes with bass exist, but only a few "big" effects. Terrible movie. PvA:
  23. The Machine (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 2 Stars (106.77dB composite) Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz) Dynamics - 5 Stars (32.34dB) Execution - 4 Stars (by poll) Overall - 4 Stars Recommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: Low levels, but a bunch of super deep content in the last half of the movie. You'll miss most of it with a ported sub system. PvA:
