Taboadax
Hello from Spain! I want to build a dual oppo sealed sub with 2 si ht18 in a aprox 9cuft box. ¿What should i know before start it? Thx for all!
Contrasseur
Well for starters you should know that driver is discontinued and hard to get a hold of. It's replacement, the DS4, promises to be better in power handling and displacement. It's more expensive, but not by much. Other than that, there's not too much to know. That's a very straightforward box design with good drivers that will give you a lot of performance at a good value. Brace the box so it doesn't resonate and stuff it with a decent amount of filling. SME
http://sundownaudio.com/ht_order.htm If that page is up to date (may be check with Sundown first), then there are still some left. Buy them while you can. Or wait until the HT-18 is reintroduced. On that note, it's disappointing to see the DS4 go. It looked like a very strong value to me with an excellent balance of attributes. We'll have to wait for tests but in a somewhat larger sealed box, I bet it would compare very favorably with the HST-18. It might even look better at higher frequencies. Electrodynamic
Wasn't the DS4 discontinued as well? You mean, "isn't" the DS4-18 discontinued, no past tense. The original HT series is an extremely good driver and a DO alignment will yield great results.
Taboadax
Thanks for the replies! I had bought two drivers one year ago, so just need a box haha. It's necesary to divide the enclosure or can work together in the same?

It's necesary to divide the enclosure or can work together in the same? They will work fine in a divided enclosure or the same enclosure, assuming each driver has enough air space within the box Two SI HT18, though? Have you considered Push Pull Slot Loaded (PPSL) alignment? http://data-bass.ipbhost.com/index.php?/topic/179-push-pull-slot-loaded-quad-si-ht18s/

Your HT18 was the clear value winner among all drivers tested. The DS18 looked to have a nice edge on the Ultimax. In the absence of testing data, your track record shows that those impressive specs are likely conservative. Sure there's plenty of other cheap 18's on the market, but it's easy to trust something when it's passed Josh's super rigorous and thorough tests. Especially in a market with as much marketing BS as audio.
