nube
The Grandmaster - USA 108min Cut (5.1 DTS-HD MA) Level - 4 Stars (111.86dB composite)Extension - 5 Stars (1Hz)Dynamics - 4 Stars (26.78dB) Execution - 4 Stars (by poll) Overall - 4.25 StarsRecommendation - Rent (by poll) Notes: Very solid content from 15Hz on down. Oddly, it's only 5.1 compared to the Chinese released 7.1 DTS-HD MA. Even so, it has greater level and better extension, though lower dynamics. I don't know what was added/removed, but it looks like a better mix for bass fiends. PvA: Comparison of the two mixes:
bmoney
22:53 has a rediculous bass hit. It reminded me of the grenade in wwz

bmoney
Thanks! The first one confirmed my suspicions The second I was pretty wrong even though there is 10h stuff just not loud But that first punch has some serious weight to it Thanks for graphing those! raynist
Does this disk only have DD for the English track? Rented it from redbox and looking at the data on blu-ray.com says the same thing. Also it says the Chinese audio is 5.1? Are there multiple versions of this?
nube
The versions are the 130min Chinese release that is 7.1 DTS-HD MA Chinese language track, with optional English subtitles, and the 108min USA release that has 5.1 DTS-HD MA Chinese language track, with optional English subtitles, or a 5.1 DD English-dubbed track. I only measured the lossless tracks on each version. Hope that clears things up.
raynist
Hmm, thanks. Will have to check again when I am at best buy again. Blu ray.com and the movie I rented had 5.1 dts ma for Chinese and 5.1 lossy for English.
nube
That's exactly how it's supposed to be, raynist. They don't have a lossless dubbed English audio track on either, that I'm aware of - only lossy DD 5.1 English dubbed track. Just play the lossless Chinese audio track and read the subs.
