  1. So, on our list is a standalone graph(s) /w compare ability that has a sticky link so you can pass it around. shouldnt be too hard to add that now that we have all the core tooling built and data input into system, but im glad you brought that up.

  2. I have  design going now that is 5 cubic feet. Uses a pro 18 and a long throw single PR. this is about the max you can do in that volume but can work well if you have a high BL , low Q 18 that can drive the PR. With a pro amp you can get some serious SPL out of that size box with that set up. Adding ports just becomes too big and if you go sealed you spend a lot more on power and driver(s)

  3. 3 years, countless keyboard strokes, a lot of conversion work. But we got the new site up. We will add features to the new site over the coming months and bug fixes/ what not.

Most importantly the new site is much more readable, we'll have better photos ongoing and its got better tools for comparing systems to each other. Each system has a compare bar at the top of the page where you can query up another system and see them together.  I would really appropriate your feedback if you have any.

Man - I'd buy one just to get rid of the orange halos on the iNuke knobs. They do look much nicer. The only gripe I have with the iNuke's DSP implementation is the 20 Hz limit.

    u love it, don't lie

But ya, if they created a 10Hz filter, its good game for everyone else.

Actually I don't think the new ones need a fan mod. So not only are they MUCH better looking, but in the short time I've played with one, I have yet to hear it ramp up. Granted there isn't any boost/eq of any kind down low yet but my friend is running 8 JBL CX1200's on one and we watched demo scenes and music at close to reference with known heavy and low bass and the fans never once spooled up.

    Then again maybe they're broke...🤔😂

    lol @ last line,

either way, at least they are quiet :)

  6. Could be a leaking surround, you would be surprised what they sound like. A ticking noise is not out of the question here. I can't say anything for sure but I do know if there is not enough glue on the pro cloth style surround, it can permeate air. It can be fixed with more glue applied right on top with a brush.

This might be the right stuff. I just did a quick google search so don't take my word for it! You need a little painters brush to apply on top.

  7. https://www.cnet.com/news/the-case-against-subwoofers-for-music/ (watch the video)

I think there are 2 problems

    1.  people let subwoofers exaggerate low end and more or less ruin music. The same can be said about headphone bass boost (mostly just sounds like crap)
    2. lots of music does not contain subsonic content or even low end audible bass.

I don't fully agree we can omit a sub for all types of music, especially modern style music which often has subsonics, but then again, this is the right place to really find that out.
We know movies need subs but which songs need it too?

So, joy of joys, I'm going to have to move house in the near future.

Currently in a first floor apartment, I got my (handle-less, veneered) 11 cubic feet, dual-18" subs in using sheer grunt, with me and a friend taking bottom corners and walking them up the stairs.  IIRC they weigh about 15-16' each, and they have nothing to actually grab hold of to move them (bad planning on my part!).

However, since then I've slacked off from the gym for ages and am now weeeeeak, and I fear we'll drop them down the stairs and/or do me an injury if we attempt to carry them out.

Has anyone got any recommended moving techniques / equipment?

The missus alerted me to these, which are apparently rated up to 650lbs(!):

    http://www.uscargocontrol.com/Moving-Supplies/Moving-Straps-Mover-Bands/Teamstrap-NEW-IMPROVED-Furniture-Moving-Straps

but just one single strap underneath seems to invite whatever you're carring to slide out to one side, especially when it's 200lbs+, very dense and very smooth-surfaced...

The only other option appears to be one of those stair-climbing trolleys:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Costway-Wheel-Truck-Trolley-Climber/dp/B07676YF5S/

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/capacity-trolley-extendable-OT1001-REVIEWS/dp/B00Y3PAD1O/

but the main issue with those is that the subs are too wide to fit down the stairs sideways, meaning only about a third of the box is actually on the bottom tray when it's on it long-ways, making it very unstable and near-impossible to get it leveraged off the actual ground!  Perhaps they would be ok with the box tightly strapped to it??

    Any recommendations very gratefully received!

I for one am firmly now under the philosophy of cutting up subwoofers into smaller ones and just using multiples.

2 single 18's vs 1 double, etc etc.

    or 3 12's vs one single 18

sorry, that does not help you here :P

  9. Displacement can be leveraged from cone area so while the xmax is average, overall displacement is still pretty damn decent at 5 liters. Josh, what is the SPL@1 watt? 100dB? To put this into perspective, a 12" high excursion woofer needs an xmax of 50mm to match this, and it won't have anything close to 100dB @ 1 watt.
