  1. Another update... I will start building soon. I already have the woofer, and the amplifier is on its way. It wouldn't be a proper DIY build if the photos weren't taken on a kitchen or dining table 😉
  2. The material thickness will be 15mm… the double baffle will add little extra weight.
  3. Just a quick update, I'm settling for a box with 164L of volume tuned to 37Hz (bracing accounted for). Take a look at the Sketchup drawings... Do you see any problems? Thank you!
  4. I found some commercial designs on youtube.. JBL: EV: YAMAHA: They are "simple" builds.. What do you think? I like the JBL and EV horizontal style better.. (This guy's channel is full of plans...) As I mentioned, I would prefer to use a tried and tested design...
  5. Thank you for your replay @peniku8 😀 The EV EKX18SP uses 15 mm plywood, ferrite magnet and it is 33Kg. The size of the magnet will be much smaller then the one on the 18TBW100 woofer. That woofer is 8ohm, 400w continuous, 1600W peak. It costs around 200€ to replace. I have a link to that: EV evs-18c woofer (used on EKX18SP). Yeah, the 18NW100 or 18NBX100 should outperform the woofer used on the EV sub, and they would match better with the plate amp I'm considering using. I've looked at those, they have 2/3mm less Xmax compared to the 18TBW100. But all 3 woofers say they will survive 57 mm peak-to-peak before damage...
  6. Hello!I'm in the process of buying or building a pair of subs to use with the EV ELX200 15inch speakers I recently bought second hand. The speakers can be replaced in the future so, for the subs I don't mind to go a little overkill. A friend of mine recommended this forum and talked lots about @Ricci and his sub designs…I think it would be better to build instead of buying because of my requirements: 18inch woofer Max weight 35Kg each box Small size, under 24inches (bigger side of the box) SPL 130db+ Frequency response down to 40hz (-3db) Active would be great, but passive would be acceptable A tried and tested design would be ideal Budget, 2000€ for two Subwoofers I was considering EV EKX18SP Subwoofers, people seem to like them. But I think I can have better Subwoofers for less money if I build them myself. Two EKX18SP units will cost 2600€ here in Portugal... A box size and weight similar to the EKX18SP but with better woofer and amp would be a good start.. EKX18SP size: 520 mm (20,47 ") x 606 mm (23,86") x 612 mm (24,09 ") EKX18SP weight: 33Kg I'm currently looking at this woofer: B&C Speakers 18TBW100, 4 ohm, 18 inch Amps: Chinese plate option (with good references): GETSHOW 2400W Subwoofer Amplifier Module Behringer Inuke nx6000D (DSP version): Behringer NX6000D Thank you in advance!
