Has anyone charted Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the opening scene of Overlord?

So, anybody here picking up a copy of the Apocalypse Now 4K UHD Blu-ray in stores tomorrow?

Why do the studios find it necessary to filter the bass on Blu-ray releases? Are they totally unaware of the capabilities of the Blu-ray format?

I wonder how this will be implemented on the upcoming 4K UHD Blu-ray release of Apocalypse Now?

Did you notice sound coming from the overhead channels, during scenes with ships flying front to back, or back to front? Even though Dolby Atmos has been around for a while, it still seems that most mixers are reluctant to use the ceiling channels. Hopefully, this film was remixed for Blu-ray at Skywalker Sound.

Has anyone charted./graphed the new Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi 4K Blu-ray release?

In addition to my sub, I have a crowson.  It goes down to 5hz i think.  

Actually, the Crowson transducers will extend all the way down to 1Hz.

I have two positioned underneath the rear feet of my sofa (MLP).

 

Same major humpage ~30hz like everything else mainstream these days.

 

 

Wouldn't folks be better off buying ported, rather than sealed subs for there HT?

Since most flicks today don't  have much to offer, down into single digit territory.

Anybody chart Deepwater Horiion yet?

Measured the new Jack Reacher, as Tom Cruise has put out many bass-heavy movies recently.....doesn't measure so well, LFE channel tops out at -7dB, Surrounds at -5dB, LCR use all available headroom, but do not clip....at all.

 

I'll post up measurements after I watch the film.

 

Scott, you're right, this IS Data-Bass, but after watching the shark-jumping Frankenstein's Army (and subsequently not digesting my previous meal), Infrasonic extension  is not the only important thing in a film soundtrack.

When will you chart Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk and Hacksaw Ridge?

Wonder if the newly remastered DTS:X soundtrack, on the Battleship 4K UHD Blu-ray, has better bass than the previous Blu-ray release?

Now that I run Crowsons, the infra is definitely experienced.  When I get more time with them  more properly integrate them, I'll do a proper review in the gear section.  Short story is Crowsons = (or nearly so) Nearfield Subs but with much less cubic footage.  Can't comment on slam, saw some of X-Men last night at -20dBRef, you need to listen at -7dB or preferably -4dB or higher to properly experience slam, IMO.  Will hopefully finish it tonight.  So far decent film.

I have mine set at "4."
