  1. Oh, cool, I hadn't thought of that! If your clip lights are coming on on the Behringer, is that not showing the Input is clipping rather than the output? Could it be that your pre-amp is shutting down briefly because you are sending it clipped signals and it doesn't like them? What are your level trims on your AVR?
  2. Well, I re-watched 9 as planned (although not as loud as I would have liked) - some additional depth that I hadn't felt before, plus it seemed tighter than before - the bass during the Machine's zapping sequences was a series of defined notes and sweeps rather than the general rumble it was previously! I will have to re-watch Inception as well - that has some slightly weird bass sweeps/notes in it IIRC, so it will be interesting to note any differences!
  3. I think it's good to go back and re-watch older stuff, especially following upgrades - re-watching my collection after upgrading from a ported 2x12" to a sealed PPSL 4x18", some of the differences are night and day, and I've only got one of the two sealed boxes in place so far!
  4. I have now got the first of my two dual 18" PPSL subs in place so now I need to run REW, sort out EQ on the low end to boost if necessary, then re-watch my entire collection... lol It's good to feel some of the lower stuff that was missing on my ported SVS, WotW plane crash scene definitely had content there the other night that wasn't there before, as did the Balrog scene in LotR: FotR this morning before work, but I think it could be louder so MiniDSP or a Bassis from Bosso looks like it is required!
  5. I need to re-listen to it to see if I can notice any, but I'm hopeful too The audio legend guy who passed away recently (Tom Nousaine??) mentioned the second of the two in an article I read by him so I thought I'd check them out
  6. Ok, this isn't music or a film but please could we add the following to the 'To Rate' list? Supersonics - Just Jets All Audio http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00066EL4Y/ Round Sounds Vol 1, Featuring the Unique Sounds of Radial Engine Aircraft http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000C7P9C0/ I was just playing the first one at -3 with the windows slightly ajar (you can hear the birds singing in the background on the CD before getting deafened by a passing jet lol) then went outside to get something from the car, and my neighbour was outside looking at the sky, saying "Did you hear that?" LOL
  7. So, my award for most completely unexpected bassfest I've watched this year goes to... ... The Neverending Story. Yes, the 1984 classic!! Seriously, I thought I was in for an evening of cheesiness to keep the missus happy. What I didn't expect was crazy bass through most of the film! Felt reasonably deep too, I reckon it goes at least the same as, if not lower than, the 30Hz filtered latest Star Trek! I reckon c.20Hz peak with unfiltered roll off. Please, someone pick up a copy and confirm I'm not going mad lol (For reference, I watched the English 5.1 DTS sountrack on a UK BD through an Onkyo 818 at -16 with DynamicEQ enabled. Sub is an equally old-skool SVS PB12-Plus/2 in 16Hz tune.)
  8. Just thought I'd bump this thread as I think Lone Survivor needs to be added, going from the graphs lol
  9. I take your point lol There was definitely bass, but it's just hard to know if I'm missing anything as my SVS is 16Hz tune and that would mean I would miss all the 6Hz stuff on Lone Survivor, for example!
  10. I've just had a search here and also on AVS as I swore Iron Sky had been measured (or at least mentioned) before, but seemingly not... Could we add it to the google docs list, please? My feeling is that it's filtered.
  11. That'll keep you busy for a while! Will look forward to the results
  12. The quality of 9 really does seem to have slipped past under the radar - excellent story, excellent animation, excellent sound, it's pretty much perfect IMHO
  13. Oh, and I should be able to post some details/pics of my project soon I warn you now, I will probably need help with wiring and setup... lol
  14. I have in my head that the SI 24 is the perfect comeback to a demand from SWMBO that I am only allowed one subwoofer lol
  15. I suggested in the 2013 BMotY thread that we At least that way they could have a little metal trophy on a nicely finished wood plinth with a plaque from us and might pay us a visit online!
  16. Hey Nube, The start of X-Men 1st Class, where Magneto is tested in the room and gets angry, may also be quite long, from memory? I've never watched it but that shuttle launch clip might also be a decent length?
  17. I know we complain about how some movies are filtered but overall I think we are doing a lot better for bass than even 10 years ago!
  18. 9 really is a sleeper of a movie - it sits on the shelf at the store in the cartoon / animated section looking innocent and child-friendly enough, yet it's a very dark tale with sometimes scary moments and tension, and it covers some very adult themes, such as death and loss, challenging authoritarian regimes, war, the dark side of human nature... The fact that it has killer LFE really makes the film an all-encompassing experience IMHO - it would definitely lack a lot without it! If you've not watched it or aren't sure about it, get it!
  19. I appreciate the logistical challenges of getting good <30Hz bass in a large cinema room, but I do wish (pray...) that one day in-cinema speakers specifications will actually get below 30Hz
